Music Composing

Extant music samples

I’m an artist who only recently returned to composing after a long sabbatical, interrupted by few and very short exceptions. So, I ask for your patience – content embedding from previous performances is ongoing. As recordings of performances of new work manifest, I will post them here. Thank you for understanding!

1. YLE broadcast, Leaves European premiere,
     Tulinbergin Salli, Oulu, 2009 Uuden
      Musikiin Lokakuu festival. Artists: Anna
      Maria Jurvelin, soprano, Markku Korhonen,
      clarinet,Ulla Roiko-Jokela, piano

2. Fanfare for Denali – this brass quintet
     fanfare hasn’t been performed yet.
This is a sequenced sample. I wrote it for
     North America’s highest mountain, to
honor its powerful influence upon me.

3. Birth – duet excerpt from Harvest Dance
     commissioned and performed by
     DanceFusion, Philadelphia, 1990, for
     choreographer, Joe Cicala, with music
     composed for chamber ensemble.

4. Excerpt from soundtrack of the Emmy
     Award-winning writer/director Don Cox’
     1990 film, Aferthoughts. Sound studio
     recording of live ensemble: strings,
     woodwinds and French Horn.

5. Recording of “For My Father”, jazz idiom.
     Session musicians: Andy Wilson,
     harmonica, Tom Lawton, piano, Paul
     Gehman, upright bass, Dan Monaghan,
     drums, myself, classical guitar.
